I won Evanescence tickets on the radio. I wasn't calling in for that-I was calling in for the coture handbag (which I'm now in the running for) and I got the tickets. Anyone want them? |

[Oct. 26th, 2007|11:34 am] |
I appologize for the odd formatting. I copied and pasted this and it turned out weird. I'm too lazy to fix it so you'll have to deal with it. Welcome back to life inside Becky's head. It's still just as weird as ever in here, so don't expect anything different. Not much has changed since I last updated-whenever that was. I no longer work at Barnes and Noble. I work 35 hours a week at the EIU Cont. Ed. office at Parkland. I work with an awesome supervisor (best I've ever had) and get to add the pretty title of "recruiter" to my resume. Impressive, eh? Sadly, I don't make much money here and I don't get benefits. So as much as I love it, I'm looking for a new job. So far, I'm lacking awesome offers. But I'm hoping :c) A few weeks ago, Ogden and I went to a vineyard in Southern Illinois (hence my new profile pic). All but two of the wines we tried weren't that great, but it was just nice to get out of champaign for a bit. Oh, also, Megan and I went to Illini Midnight Madness. It wasn't the greatest night of my life, but I did get to see Jeff Jordan play. No sign of his father yet, but he's probably buying a house in town so I'm sure he'll start showing up at games in a bit. Anyone have an extra ticket? Sean is trying to go on a missions trip to India. I don't know exactly when he's supposed to go, but I think he'll be gone for 3 weeks. Needless to say, this will be expensive as he will not only have to raise a significant amount to go, but he'll also lose out on 3 weeks salry. Jennifer is a bit worried about it too because she saw a documentary about a missionary group in India and a lion attacked a sightseeing truck and killed on of the missionaries. So if you're the praying type, please pray for God to provide monetary support and reassurance of His will.
On my other blogs, this is where I included a looooong rant about children's toys and gender stereotypes. I'm not including it here, but if you want to read it , let me know.
I like crunchy peanut butter. |

| she almost died from toxic poisoning! |
[Jul. 2nd, 2007|02:12 pm] |
This weekend was fun. I went up to visit Erica and Chris (Erica Uitto and her new husband). Friday night we went to their young adult group. It's held in a coffee shop and was really cool. It was church, but laid back. A lot of people there come from rough backgrounds so to hear them talk about the changes in their lives was really cool. Plus it was just awesome to be worshipping God in the back room of a coffee house. How many of you have gotten to do that? Yeah, that's what I thought. When we got done, a few of us went back to the hotel (Erica and Chris rented a room for us-it gets kinda cramped at their place) and hit the hot tub. It got pretty hot really quick and I didn't spend much time actually in it, but it was still nice after the long week I had.
That made for a pretty late night. We finally got to bed at around 2 and then got up early to catch the train to downtown Chicago for the Taste. We headed up early so we could do some window shopping and general wandering around before getting food. I managed to keep my credit card in my wallet-thankfully-and not buy all the cute clothes I saw. I definitely want to go to some of those stores again when I have money. Anyways, after that we made our way to the Taste. It was about 80 degrees, which was perfect. It did get pretty hot and sticky for a while because of the crowds, but it wasn't terribly bad. I tried a few different things but since it was so hot, I quickly lost my appetite. Chris got a freaking HUGE turkey leg (ewww!) and Erica got some Indian food. It was similar to some African food she was looking for, but just not the same. Apparently, it didn't come close to being as awesome as the food she had in Africa. Luckily, she has a friend who is from Kenya who promised to make her some Samosas. I think I'll need to visit again that day.
After that, we spent some time just sitting by the lake and then walked to Navy Pier. With all that walking, I definitely got a workout. We hung around the pier and waited for the fireworks show. They have them up there every Wednesday and Saturday nights. They only last 15 minutes, but I love fireworks so I was amused. Sunday, we went to church and then to a restaurant called 'Moe's.' It's kinda like a mexican version of Fazolis. Not bad. Not Dos, but not bad. The entrees are named after tv show jokes. I ordered two vegetarian tacos, which were called 'Ugly Naked Guy.' Good times.
Oh yeah, and on the train on the way up, there was this crazy woman talking to everyone like she knew them. She was talking about the poison sumac on her arm, told people that her mom almost died of 'toxic poisoning'...as opposed to non-toxic poisoning? Anyways, I had a great time and I can't wait to visit again. This time, I'll remember to bring an extra pen. Yep, that's an inside joke and no, I don't feel like explaining it. But I do have a dollar. (see, there I go again.) |

[May. 15th, 2007|10:21 pm] |
Body: JANUARY
1. Who kissed you on New Years? Ogden
2. Did you have a new year's resolution this year? Nope! They're rather pointless anyways.
3. Does it snow where you live? Yep
4. Do you like hot chocolate? I love hot chocolate!
5. Have you ever been to Times Square to watch the ball drop? No, but I'd like to
FEBRUARY
1. Who was your Valentine? Ogden-although we didn't celebrate it. Something about being poor.
2. When you were little did you buy Valentine's for the whole class? Of course! I loved making those envelopes out of red and pink construction paper. I think that was my favorite part-well aside from the cupcakes and candy. Especially those red-hots.
3. Do you care if the groundhog sees its shadow or not? Couldn't care less
MARCH
1. Are you Irish? Irish and proud!
2. Do you wear green on St. Patty's Day? I did this year inadvertently but generally no. It's a holiday that mocks the Irish culture so I don't celebrate it like that. I do, however, eat lots of potatoes. I don't care if it's stereotypical-it's my favorite food!
3. What did you do for St. Patty's Day in 2007? I have no idea
4. Are you happy when winter is pretty much over? I like winter, but by the time it's over I'm usually ready for spring
APRIL
1. Do you like the rain? Storms are the best part of living in the midwest. Well that and fresh sweetcorn at very cheap prices.
2. Did you play an April fool's joke on anyone this year? What's the point in that? I never really got why people do that.
3. Do you get tons of candy on Easter? This year I bought myself Easter candy the week before. Does that count?
4. Do you celebrate 4/20? Nope
5. Do you love the month of April? Love is too strong a word. I like it, but I don't really LOVE any month.
MAY
1. What is your favorite flower? Daffodils
2. Do you like the spring? Yes! It means flowers and rain and sunshine.
3. Finish the phrase "April showers": get my car dirty?
4. Do you celebrate May 16th: Should I know what this means?
5. Is there anything special about May to you? My niece's birthday
JUNE
1. What year did/will you graduate from high school? I graduated in *cough*
2. Are you doing anything fun during this month? Going to a wedding
3. Have a favorite baseball team? Cubs
JULY
1. What will you do on the Fourth of July? Probably something involving fireworks and grilled meat (chicken, of course)
2. Are you going on any vacations during this month? I plan on going to the Cape at the end of July. Yay vacation!
3. Do you blast the A/C all day? Hot sticky air=evil
AUGUST
1. Anything special at the end of your summer? Vacation
2. What was your favorite summer memory of '06? Sipping an iced caramel latte on Martha's Vineyard
3. Did you have a sunburn? Nothing major. Just a kiss of pink.
4. Did you go to the beach a lot? Not nearly enough. Then again, I could never go to the beach too much.
SEPTEMBER
1. Will you be attending college/school? Hopefully?
2. Who was your favorite teacher? Mrs. Ames-Kindergarten
3. Do you like fall better than summer? No! Summer means vacation and beaches.
OCTOBER
1. What was your last Halloween costume? Something....costume like???
2. What is your favorite candy? Chocolate
3. Whose birthday is during this month? My dad's
NOVEMBER
1. Whose house do you go to for Thanksgiving? My parent's
2. *edited* This question was a shameless plug for a little-known website. Rather than respond to that, I'm deleting the question. Don't worry, you didn't miss anything.
3. What are you thankful for? My salvation
4. Do you love stuffing? My mom makes the best stuffing
DECEMBER
1. Do you celebrate Christmas? It's my favorite holiday!
2. What is December 1st, 2007? First day of Advent
3. Have you ever been kissed under mistletoe? Nope
4. Get anything special last year? Cash. It was wonderful. I spent it when I went to the Cape since they don't have sales tax on clothes.
5. What do you want this year? Go to Tahiti! Too bad I won't get to.
6. Do you like cold weather? Sadly, yes. I didn't in the past but I do now. I still hate the bitter cold that chills to the bone, but I do like the cold. I blame Ogden. |

I love being sick, don't you? It's just great when I'm hot and cold at the same time, my skin hurts, my eyes burn, and my head is stuffy yet drippy. And then there's the cold medicine that makes my head fuzzy and occasionally dizzy. Sure the box says to discontinue use if it causes dizziness, but what do they know? I'd rather be dizzy than completely miserable. I kinda don't want to go to bed because I'll probably wake up tomorrow feeling worse. I'm using those zinc losenges since the last time I took echinacea it made me sick. They don't work all that well. I'm also going through 9 Emergen-C packets a day. I really wish I could swallow large pills cause it'd be much easier and cheaper to buy vitamin-c tablets. At least the powder was buy one get one free at Walgreens. Time for more sinus medication. |

| | irate | ] | The week before graduation, I called the financial aid department to see what I needed to do about exit counseling (loan stuff). They told me I could take care of everything online and it would be taken care of. I did that a month and a half ago. I was wondering why I haven't received my diploma yet when I got a letter in the mail. Apparently, Perkins loan exit counseling can't be done online. A hold has been placed on my account and I have to fill out more paperwork (basically the same thing I did online) and have a 10 minute over the phone exit interview. Why the hell didn't they tell me that when I called in December? They had all my info there, including the amount due on my perkins loan. They knew how much I owed and that I had to do this in person or on the phone. WHAT THE HELL? Why didn't they tell me this so I wouldn't have to find out six freaking weeks later that I can't my diploma till I do this? They're so freaking incompetent. Bastards. |

| | mellow | ] | Happy 2007! I hope everyone is doing well. I also hope Nicole is proud of me for using well instead of good, even though I probably made other grammatical errors or will make them in the course of this post. Anyways, welcome to the year of my golden birthday. That's right kids, I turn the big 2-7 this year. I hope to celebrate by attending grad school classes. Here's hoping the second GMAT is better than the first.
But seriously kids, this is when most Americans look forward to the new year and make resolutions to change their lives. Instead of being one of those trendy new-years-resolution-setters, I'm setting no goals for myself. This way, I won't fail in a month and end up consuming mass amounts of chocolate in despair. I'd rather consume the chocolate due to happiness as opposed to guilt. I have no idea where I'm going with this.
I'm visiting with Ogden and his family right now. I'll get back into town on Saturday (boo) and hopefully find some motivation to get a real job. I think I had motivation before but I left it behind somewhere and I can't remember just where that was. At a store in the mall perhaps? Anyways, things are going well with me...well other than no real job or the desire to have one.
I spent my friday afternoon looking at dead people. It was an exhibit at the Boston Science Museum called "Body Works 2" and it's actually interesting. It isn't nearly as gross as it sounds because the people don't look real because of how the bodies/organs are preserved. I highly recommend googling it. I learned a lot about how our bodies are put together. It just made me think of how awesome God is that he created us in the way he did. I also learned that TB can be found in any organ and not just the lungs and it leaves a cavern in the lung when it's gone.
After that, we had a lovely evening in Boston. We ate at a pizza place and then went to Finale for desert. They don't serve real meals, just desert and drinks. I had the chocolate lava cake with coffee gelatto. Absolutely amazing. Ogden and his brother also the lava cake. We were in chocolate heaven. All in all, it was a fun day until my stomach reminded me that it doesn't like echinacea tea and started hurting during the car ride home. I spent pretty much all day Saturday sleeping but was better in time for new years. We had planned on going out Sunday night, but it didn't work out and I think that was better since we all crashed at around 10 and had to work to keep ourselves awake until midnight. Oh, and I whooped Ogden in a game of 9-ball.
Here's how my Christmas was: I got a card with money. Pretty aweseome, eh? It was just what I wanted.
Drop me a message/comment and let me know how you're all doing, how your Christmas was, and if you made any resolutions. Love, luck, and lollipops. |

[Nov. 13th, 2006|12:20 am] |
Ogden just informed me that I haven't posted an entry since early September. Sorry about neglecting you. Here's some quick stuff: -Vacation was awesome. I got to play with a Golden Retriever puppy named Jazz. I also go to see Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Awesome. I ate lunch at Cheers and got to see priceless works of art. Good times. -My International Business professor is an ass. He made me take an exam the day after my cousin died. I had to stop a few times so I could cry, but I wasn't even allowed to go to the restroom to get some tissue to blow my nose and wipe my eyes. Asshole. -I take the GMAT (entrance exam for MBA program) on Tuesday the 21st. I need prayer. Lots of prayer. Fasting type prayer. PLEASE!!! I can't afford to fail it ($250 each time). -I'm thinking about taking my 6Gs out because I miss wearing other earrings, but I haven't decided yet. If you have any opinions, I'm open to them. -I graduate December 16th. Hopefully I'll get into grad school so I can put off getting a real job. -I'm now wearing my glasses all of the time and not just for reading. I should get my eyes re-examined and get newer lenses, but that costs money (see GMAT expenses above). -I learned that tvs, dvd players, stereos, computers, etc use 40% of their full power when they're simply turned off. They're in standby mode which is what drains the power. They have to be unplugged in order ot not use any power when turned off.
That's my life in a nutshell. Woo-hoo! |

If any of you wouldn't mind, I could use some prayer. There something wrong with me that's causing some pain and the doctors can't figure out what it is. I'd appreciate even a 10 second prayer if you don't mind. Thanks.
